I am excited to share with you my desires to help create excitement about READING in children. My goal through Written Treasures is to assist in the development of children with the following main objectives in mind:
· Teach children the importance of learning to read.
· Teach children the importance of books and that they truly are treasures.
· Teach children the importance of taking care of books just like you do family and friends.
Why do I have an interest is this? I was one of eight growing up and never had the opportunity to own my "own" book due to family finances so I have made it a quest to try to get a book in the hands of others at the age when they need them the most! In addition, I have developed a true love for reading to children through the eyes of my own 3 year old!
How do I propose to make this possible? I have developed a 30 minute program for K-3 grade and have been actively involved in making this program known. At the end of every book reading each child gets to take home a book for FREE! The books that I have chosen for this program gets the children involved and encouraged to learn.
